Climate Action Carnival Hereford, have been organising events on the last Saturday of the each month since May 2009 in the lead up to the Climate summit in Copenhagen. We have brought cinema into broad mix of activities for these events.
Films have included, “Save Vestas Wind Turbine Factory”, “Countdown to Copenhagen”, “Eigg – Eco-island” (from Reel News 20), “The Agricultural Rebel (Der Agrar Rebell)”, “Power of Community: How Cuba Survived Peak Oil”, “Age of Stupid”.
Saturday the 28th November will be the final Climate Action Carnival Hereford before the summit. We will be a screening “A Time Comes: the story of the Kingsnorth Six” (running time 20 minutes), 1pm at the Shire Hall, free admission.
“The Kingsnorth Six made history last year: accused of causing £30,000 of criminal damage to Kingsnorth power station, their defence of “lawful excuse” was accepted by the jury – because they were acting to safeguard property around the world “in immediate need of protection” from the impacts of climate change, caused in part by burning coal.”
